Southtown Sanctuary

In 2013 I purchased and remodeled a 1922 Bungalow in the Lavaca neighborhood of downtown San Antonio, TX. My architect friend Kristen Wiese Hefty of The Dado Group drew a simple redesign to open up the kitchen to the living area and created a rad floating support/built-in system which my friend Rain Korff Gilbert made out of the gorgeous long leaf pine we reclaimed from the wall we removed. The best contractor and human on earth, “Surfer Joe” Shortt managed the restoration project impeccably while I traveled for work. It was an incredible experience to collaborate with so many talented people who I will forever call friends. Photos by another gifted creative friend Mark Menjivar.
